Australians have failed to justify their enormous pay packets midway through the Indian Premier League, with retired stars Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist saving face for the Aussies.
Just four Australians are in the top 40 wicket takers of the Twenty20 tournament - one is Warne. And only four Australians are in the top 30 run scorers - one is Gilchrist.
The retired duo is among the Australian highlights in the fourth instalment of the IPL.
Four years after retiring from international and Australian domestic cricket, Warne is perched in second spot on the IPL wicket takers list.
The highest paid Australian in the IPL with a contract of $US1.8 million ($A1.67 million) with Rajasthan Royals, the leg-spinning great has taken nine wickets from six games, at an average of 16.55 and conceding 6.20 runs an over.
Only Sri Lankan slinger Lasith Malinga has claimed more wickets, with 16 victims at the stunning average of 9.00.
Australian paceman Shaun Tait is in ninth spot on the wicket takers list with six victims in three games, while Doug Bollinger (five wickets in three games) is 16th.
All-rounder James Hopes' return of four wickets in as many games is 30th on the list, with the next best Australian being quick Ryan Harris (three wickets in four games) in 44th position.
With the bat, Australians are faring little better with left-handed blaster David Warner leading his compatriots.
Warner has made 236 runs from six innings, the third most of any batsman in the tournament, with a strike rate nearing 130.
Mike Hussey (193 runs from four games) is eighth on the list and Shaun Marsh (179 runs from four innings, strike rate 170) is 13th.
Then comes Gilchrist in 20th spot with 151 runs from five knocks.
High-priced Aussie David Hussey, who's receiving $US1.4 million ($A1.30 million) from the Kings XI Punjab, has played just once and made 20 runs.
And his national T20 captain Cameron White has made only 32 runs from two outings after Deccan Chargers bought his services for $US1.1 million ($A1.02 million).
